Welcome to the website, a new access mode, of the Department for National Drug Control (DNDC). I trust that you will include this site among your "favourites" as you seek information concerning drug prevention, treatment, and research efforts in Bermuda.

The DNDC is the focal point within the government for demand reduction initiatives, which include those related to prevention, treatment, rehabilitation, and harm reduction and which concern alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs (ATODs). Our efforts aim to prevent the use of drugs by those not currently using them, reduce the harm for those who use them, and promote effective and innovative treatment and rehabilitation for those affected by substance abuse. The DNDC is also the steward of the National Drug Control Master Plan and Action Plan and actively collaborates with our supply reduction partners to ensure a balanced approach to addressing the drug problem in Bermuda.

We at DNDC believe that it is possible for Bermuda to contain and, subsequently to reduce, the demand for ATODs. However, a total community effort – and nothing less – is required. We must recognize that drugs have become a deeply ingrained part of our daily lives and that prevention cannot occur unless there is change in our social attitudes toward drug use. Changing social attitudes toward drugs is a difficult undertaking, but not an impossible one.

We hope that you will find this site to be an informative, useful, and responsive venue in understanding more about DNDC's initiatives, the opportunities we embrace, and the challenges we face.
